Smoky Row Rd. 1st Block Watch Meeting, November 5th, 2012

Dear Friends and Neighbors, The crime problem in our community is on the rise. Directly or indirectly, we are all affected by crime that has caused financial loss and intimidation and possibly even injury. These situations present the need for community involvement and assistance in crime prevention through a COMMUNITY BLOCK WATCH Program.  A community-based crime prevention program is a simple and direct approach toward protecting our community from criminal attacks. The program involves the reduction of criminal opportunity through citizen’s participation in crime prevention measures, such as being alert and aware, reporting suspicious and criminal activity to the police, and initiating actions which reduce criminal opportunity.  To make a COMMUNITY BLOCK WATCH we need to work together as a community.  We would like to invite you to join our efforts in making our community a safer place to live.  Please visit our blog at www.powellblockwatch.blogspot.com for educational information and for tips on how to keep alert as to criminal activity in our area.  If you would like to join our efforts please email the Block Watch at powellblockwatch@aol.com.  At the very least we are asking everyone to please report any suspicious activity to the Columbus Police Department immediately at 614-645-4545.  We appreciate your efforts toward making our community a safer place to live.

We will be having our 1st Smoky Row Rd. Block Watch meeting on Monday, November 5th at 7:00 pm in the meeting room at the Northwest Library at 2280 Hard Rd., Columbus, Ohio 43235.  Officer Bruce Beard from the Columbus Police Department will be speaking at the meeting.  The topic will be How to Make Your Home Safer.  Once we have 3 official meetings we will be considered an official Block Watch that will be recognized by the City of Columbus.  After the 3rd meeting the City will also put street signs that say Neighborhood Watch Area in our community to warn criminals that we are watching!
